FWIW. I have a 2012 production 9c with TS. It was very rough when new. I polished it a bit and shot it a lot. It improved a bit. I replaced the striker blocker with the Apex USB and the lighter spring. It improved quite a bit. I finally found a source for the new style trigger and trigger bar. I replaced those parts. Reset "feel" improved greatly. I found a source for a new striker block and performance center sear. That improved both the feel and the smoothness. I put an Apex hardened sear in the gun and opened the trigger loop slightly. The free travel reduced a good bit and trigger pull weight went to just over 4 lbs. I put the Apex trigger spring in because 4 lbs was too light. The trigger pul is now 5.5 lbs. the reset occurs in about an eighth of an inch. The free travel is half of what it was when new. The trigger resets with an audible click and feel. The trigger is smooth as glass. The trigger pull is acceptably light. MY accuracy has improved immensely. The gun has had approximately 5000 rounds through it. It's function is perfect. I have spent $211.47 for parts.

I appreciate the LAPD info, but I'm looking to purchase a new handgun... And I'm neither LAPD nor even in LA nor part of any PD.

Does the m&p 9c have better barrels over the full size?

While I'm partial to the Glock 19, there have been no systematic accuracy issues with the M & P 9C. It's been an issue with the full (service size) 9's only. And no problems with the 40's. As far as the triggers, I guess that's a matter of preference. But M & P triggers are upgradable if you don't like.

As has been mentioned, the issue has been with the M&P9, Full Size. There haven't been any problems noted with the 40 or 45 cals, but the Full Size 9 is still a crap shoot. Smith has not addressed the real issues with all its lock up and trigger fixes. Some of us think the real issue is that there is less mass on the 9mm slide and the lesser thickness makes it more susceptible to warping than the thicker slides of the 40 and 45, whose thickness is necessary to help control the greater recoil. There may be other problems, but this one hasn't been addressed.

Further, the accuracy issues in M&P full-size 9 don't appear at 7 to 15 yards; for some reason, if they're present, they appear at 25 yards or so. If present, the problem will show you a group of 6- 8 inches from a rest, at 25 yards.
