M&P serial numbers question

Does anybody know when these two M&P's were made?

The first is 100xxx the second 555xxx.

Are there any letter prefixs to either gun?

If not (assuming they are .38 Special):

.38 Special Hand Ejector M&P:

100xxx dates to 1906-1909 (serial number range 73251-146899).

555xxx dates to 1915-1942 (serial number range 241704-700000).

To get more specific you would have to write to Roy Jinks at S&W. I hope this helps.

555,000 = Middle 1930's

Speaking of coincidences - - -

Just yesterday, I did some research for one of our Assistant Chief Deputies and wrote the following for him- --

Smith & Wesson Military & Police Hand Ejector, Model 1905 4th Change Caliber .38 Special Serial number 542XXX

References:

p. 292 241704 through 70000 produced 1915 – 1942.

p. 102 Factory records show that “a small number†marked “Texas State Prison†scattered between serial numbers 50000 and 630000 were purchased 1927 – 1930.

The Knight revolver was probably produced in the 1927 or 1928.

Further inf, p. 103 - - 36 M&Ps shipped to US Secret Service in 1935, in the 651500 S/N range. This tends to confirm the above; that 555XXX was likely made in 1928 or 29.

You know, if we keep chipping at this one, we're apt to determine the exact month and maybe day. Morning or afternoon might be a bit difficult, though.
