M&p shield carry & holster questions

I was *this* close to sending my aliengear holster back. It just added what seemed like an unacceptable amount of bulk. I just couldn't find a position where either the grip or the holster itself wasn't poking out. I got a shield so I could conceal with just a tshirt. On a last ditch effort, I took it apart and heated the kydex with the wife's hair dryer. I curved the two flanges that attach it to the leather with the pistol in its pocket. This allowed the assembled holster to contour around my hip at around 4:00. It is SIGNIFICANTLY more comfortable and with it set to it's lowest ride height, disappears even with a fitted shirt.

Thanks for everyone's advice. So far I have been using a Blade tech IWB. It works for the most part.....but I still can't help but to think leather would be more comfortable.

Kicking around the idea of a Desantis mini scabbard.....anybody have any experience with one??

I have tried a few for my Shield. A couple of weeks ago I bought a Garretts Silent Thunder Solo. Leather backing and leather lined Kydex for rigidity. This is a very comfortable holster to carry. Re-holstering takes a bit of practice but it should anyway. An added benefit, it's tuckable.

When I first got the Foxx, its fit wasn't ideal at first. It was still stiff, and putting it in the 4 o'clock position made a big gap over the center of my rear end. Wearing it a day or two caused it to break in and conform to me...now its perfect!

I carry a G26 in Comp-Tac Minator and like it. Just be sure to order it with the C clips, the regular ones detach & allow the holster to creep up. I'm ever sure why they make them.

Were you using a gun belt with the normal over hooks? I know the G26 is very small and light, and you may not need one, but Comp-Tac's loops and clips are designed for use with a gun belt.

Yes, I have their gun belt too and was using the over hooks. The gun belt makes all the difference in the world but clip design is insufficient.

The G26 is pretty bulky and heavy for a subcompact. Especially with a 2+ mag extention.

I carry my Shield in a Galco King-Tuk (which is yet another copy of the Crossbreed Super-Tuck). It's extremely comfortable and it conceals better than any other IWB holster I've ever used:

The problem with some other holsters is that they have the belt hooks or loops next to the body of the holster instead of to the side like on the King-Tuk, and that makes the overall package much wider. For example, the previous holster I used -- the BladeTech Nano -- printed a lot more and wasn't as comfortable:

As for IWB vs. OWB, the IWB will be more concealable for two reasons: A good IWB will hold the gun closer to your body, and if your shirt rides up you're much less likely to show. I carry my Shield in my Galco King-Tuk IWB with just a pair of shorts and a normal-sized T-shirt and I don't worry about printing or showing my gun when I bend over. And it's so comfortable I often can't even tell I'm wearing it.

I also get use galco king tuk for every carry weapon I have. There may be better, but I havent found it yet.
