Leather or Kydex Holster?

Here's a graphic example of why kydex, even the modern pancake designs, typically won't conceal as well as leather - they don't bend and conform to the body.

I realize this is an IWB demonstration picture, but it would be the same if this guy was using the Phantom OWB. Hey, I'm a fan of the RCS Gear Phantom and recommend them all the time. The Phantom conceals significantly better than "classic" kydex like a Blade-Tech SRB, or the old Comp-Tac belt holster, because it at least makes an effort to tuck the grip of the gun into the body. However, in general, I'd pick a leather pancake over just about any OWB kydex holster for concealment.

Maybe it's a rare personal thing.

On me, and anyone I've taught, the fact that leather conforms to the body, hurts concealment. The holster flexes and allows the pistol butt to poke out. But my Ravens is rigid, and keeps the butt cranked in. The tighter my belt, the more the pistol is pulled into me.

I prefer leather but have one kydex type IWB holster that works fine.

Exactly the same here.
Love my leather, but nabbed a kydex IWB holster off from a small business through ebay. Holds my gun as well as anything $50 more and this particular one uses a nice belt clip that doesn't let it move, albeit with my solid 1.5" gun belt.
Give me the choice and I'll go leather, but won't pass up a hybrid or good small kydex holster.

I make iwb hybrids for me and others. They are great. If I own your gun, you are in luck,if you want.
