I bought a used shield. Looked very clean and good when i picked it up. But went to fire it today. Found out it has a broken firing pin. Does anybody know if the compact/full size m&p striker assembly will fit the shield? I tried doing a google search but its hard on a moble phone.

Have you tried S&W customer service? They might send you one at no charge. I received a new recoil spring assembly for a 40 cal I bought 2nd hand. I told the CS guy that up front.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

I would recommend contacting customer service on that one. They can ensure you get the right one. Will probably save you time in the long run. And they may send you one free of charge. They sent me out 2 new mags to replace 1 broken one when I had issues with my Shield.

I did not call smith and wesson because i bought it used. I assumed the warrenty will not be valid when buying used.
Call them anyway. Even if you have to buy a new pin (which you have to anyway) you can get one while on the phone and get the gun running at least!

Edit to add: broken firing pins are not a common enough thing for there to be aftermarket firing pins for that gun. So get one from S&W.

Trust me, S&W has excellent customer service and they are the place to get a new part from. The bigger question is how it got broke in the first place? That would concern me more.

I had a recoil spring assembly fall apart on a shield I bought new with only about 400 rounds on it. I called customer service and told them what happened and he didn't even ask for a serial number, let alone proof of purchase. Just took my address and sent me a part. They seem to have very good service.

I had purchased my Shield used as well. I even told them that I purchased it from a friend who bought it new and just did not like it after they shot it a couple times. They said no problem and still made it right.

I called. No questions asked. Getting a firing pin assembly in the mail. They never asked about if i bought it new or anything. Did have to give them the serial number to make sure they shipped the right part. But didnt cost me anything.

I am still surprised on how it broke. Got me stumped

^^^^^^

I called. No questions asked.

That was my experience with S&W too.

I called them and asked to buy a new safety lever for my MP9c (preferred to keep with the same operation as a BHP).

I told them that I cosmetically damaged it and while it wasn't a safe queen, it bothered

Its an odd part... I think its actually part of another p/n for them from the conversation.

They said they would ship one for free.... even after me explaining what I did to it and reiterating that its a cosmetic thing only.

They never asked me when/where/how I got the gun.

Then, about 2 wks later, I called again because I didn't get it.

Same conversation.... 'my fault... cosmetic only'. They looked it up and we confirmed the correct address etc.

I offered to pay... but they sent me another one for free and still never asked me anything to do if I was the original owner.

About a week later I got it...... then about 3 days later... I got the 1st one the sent (looking at the post marked padded envelope).
