I really like the Heinie Straight 8 type sights. I was looking at some from Ameriglo, but ran into a problem when I went to check the impact on my M&P. I'm hitting about 1.5 inches low at 15 yards with the stock Novak Sights. Being that the front is .180 high, I will need a lower front sight. But, Ameriglo doesn't make a front sight short enough for that, and their rear sights are all the same height as OEM, so I can't buy a taller rear.

Any suggestions? I've heard of mixing and matching brands but I'd like some opinions, thanks.

TruGlo TFX .....

Did you see TruGlo's new TFX sight system? It's now available for M&P models to include the compact Shield, ;) .
I have factory install Trijicon 3 green dot night sights on my police trade-in Glock 21. I have a M&P Shield 9x19mm that I'd add TFX sights to if I wasn't going to trade it in soon for a new Glock 43 9mm pistol.
TFXs are fiber optic but bright day or night. They are built for carry or regular duty use too which I like, :) .
The prices are about the same as Trijicon's HD line(maybe less depending on the vendor).
Top M&P pistolsmith & SWAT cop David Bowie, www.Bowietacticalconcepts.com offers a few M&P sight choices. His Ohio based shop does custom work & sight installs too. I like the Ameriglo Operator series but I'd lean towards the TruGlo TFX for a new carry or duty sidearm.

Emmmm?

You know where it shoots.

So aim where you know it shoots.

People have been doing that successfully with fixed sights for at least 200 years or more.

And still do with things like the military M4 rifle which shoots 2 1/2" low at close range.

Gently, meticulously and slowly file down the front sight? But rc has it right, aim a smidgen high. I have a Hi-Power with Novak low mount combat sights that hits a little low at 25 yards and a little high at 50 yards. But that's because it's zeroed at 10 yards and the bullet's path is not a straight line even at "pistol" distances.

Maybe your sights are regulated at a different distance than your shooting.
