I am looking for options for a trigger job for a M&P (overtravel/take-up/reset, reduced weight is not needed).

So far I have found Bowie Tactical. I do not like having only one option.

Thanks

My dad is a sergeant with the Marshal's office where I live. Their whole office just got new M&P's and M&P compacts as their primary and BUG. They are all at Jerry Miculek's family's shop having the triggers lightened right now.

I'll ditto Burwell gunsmithing. I have just had one done to my M&P40c, and it is exactly what you describe; the pull is cleaned up, the break is crisp, overtravel has been reduced to the absolute minimum, and the reset is short and affirmative. You can get reduced weight, but I opted not to go that route.

How long was the turnaround for the trigger job?

I did mine myself; very happy. Short, crisp, nice reset and still heavy.

Since I stopped by his shop, I think it took about 15 minutes. ;)

PS I think his turnaround is less than a week, not counting shipping to and from. Email him and ask.

You know, I never really felt that the M&P factory trigger was bad. But then again, I started out with a Sigma.
It's not. But it does get better with some help.

Ditto on the Sigma trigger job.
My M&P 45 has a smooth light trigger pull right out of the box.
But my Sigama SW9VE Allied Forces almost requires two fingers to pull the trigger!

Here in Mass, all double action pistols must have a 10lbs trigger pull to be legal for sale in the state. S&W had to change out the triggers on Mass compliant models. The M&P triggers are terrible.

Do they have to stay that way?

That's a hard question to answer legally. I would assume you can modify the trigger as long as you keep it, but if you sell the gun to someone else in the state then that could become a legal issue. I believe a FFL dealer could not resell the modified gun to someone in the state.
