Except for a bikini scope cover this M&P15 Sport is finished. I kept under my budget and managed to setup the rifle exactly as I wanted it. Its really an amazing rifle, especially at its price.

-Burris Fullfield II 2-7x35 / UTG max strength QD rings
-Ergo grip / extended latch
-Magpul BUIS / MOE handguard
-UAG 2pt sling

Enjoy 8)

Nice looking gun! I've debated moding my Sport with any number of aftermarket bits, but so far its just box stock with the exception of a LUCID HD7 Red Dot Sight.

Nicely done. S&W did a great job on their AR line by offering the Sport for a basic rifle and several higher levels of factory accessorized models so there is something for everyone and buyers of the Sport can make their rifle into whatever they want without having to fix shoddy workmanship or poorly chosen cost-cutting measures.

The rifle has been running very well up to this point, but today will be the first time out with the scope. I won't have lots of time but I hope to get a good idea of its capabilities.
Outside of the optic, my intent was to leave the Sport as stock as possible. I had to change the grip, because the A2 was so narrow the trigger rested past my second knuckle....My buddy decided to reconfigure his Sport and gave me a good deal on the MOE handguards...I couldn't say no and I'm glad I put them on. The MOE is significantly more stable than the stock cheapies and the heat-shielding makes a big difference.

and yes......when I get a chance, I will weave a nice snake braid lanyard for my para-cord front sling mount ;)

You'll find that 5r rifling trumps 6 land chrome bore.

:( Yesterday on the range.....happened to be one of those days when I just wasn't shooting well. I could tell the setup has much more potential than what I was getting out of it.
I was running MFS 62g SP, once sighted in off the bag rest, I moved out to 100yds and started shooting for groups. There were some very tight ones in there but I couldn't hold it together, let the fliers, fly...... :banghead:
The best I managed was rapid fire(1 shot every 1-2seconds) sequence of 10rounds on a 6" round target. The hits fell within the target in two clusters of ~2 1/2" each one dead center and one about 2" high-right. My slow fire was abysmal....
After 60 rounds I gave up and packed it in. I'll try it again in ~2weeks when I get back from vaca and maybe with some brass ammo.

69 gr. black hills. They group well out of this rifle. PMC 55gr fmj did as well (5.56, not .223), and for a hunting load, Barnes TSx 55 gr. shot 1 1/2 MOA for me, good enough for the girls we date and I attribut this to a longer bullet due to the all copper construction. Try some of these and see what you get.

My eyes and open sights do work well together any more so heres mine with a few changes.

Use RRA mid lenght handguard and small gas block, RRA scope mount and old 2.5-10 scope I had. Found mine to be a honist sub MOA rifle with wolf gold 72gr match ammo but AR 223 55gr ammo from wally world will shot 1 1/2" or better imi m855 is not great at 2 1/2+ groups. . Picked up a couple ar stoner 10 shot mags for bench duty.

I was hoping I didn't have to replace the gas block.... As it turns out, I can't see the front sight post with the rings and scope I have on, so no need to bother with replacing it the and wasting money :)

mike as you found out no need to change . I pickup a use mid-leght handguard and gas block for 50 bucks. I don't use open sites so did not matter.

I have to say your UTG sling should get replaced the next time you get your allowance. I got hold of one of those in a trade last year and it's not fit to carry a gym bag with.
