Some background first. I own and love my M&P9 Full size. It is a ton of fun and I shoot it pretty good. I have done a trigger job, have a holster, and other minor goodies. I want a .22 pistol for I like to shoot a lot and .22 ammo is super cheap! Does anyone have experience with both of these .22 pistols? I know the M&P is very new and has a shorter barrel which will make it less accurate but I have heard it eats everything you put in it...this is why I didnt mention the Ruger MKIII. It is a picky eater. Would I be going wrong with the M&P over the Buck Mark? Eventually I would like to have both but is that even worth it? Let me know what you guys think.

IMHO the M&P 22 is overpriced for what you get. IMHO, unless having the "same" .22 pistol as your "real" gun means a lot to you, the Buckmark, S&W M22A, Neos, or Ruger are all better .22 pistols.

+1

It's hard to beat a Buck Mark.

One of my dad's friends came over today with his M&P 22, and we shot at least 200 rounds of Blazer ammo through it with one FTF. The fit and finish was good, and the gun closely matched the ergonomics and weight of a real M&P. However, it is a SA, so it doesn't perfectly match an M&P functionally.

I'll just echo everyone else, if you want a sport/target/hunting gun, look at the Ruger/Browning/S&W/Beretta. If you want a plinking/practice M&P, get the M&P 22. It's up to you to decide what it is you are really looking for here.

My Ruger MKIII hunter loves federal bulk from Walmart. There are many mods available for the MKIII. Mine has a 2 lbs trigger and is very accurate.

I took out the mag safety and the mags fly out of it!
