Originals were always staked.....easy enough to do with sharp pointed punch....
My 1944 Inland has four stake indents....one on each side of the sight elevation ramp front & rear. Likely your gun has the remains of being staked & the sights likely a replacement wherein that was not done.
Take a thin piece of shimstock and put under the sight then slide it back in. This will tighten it back up and allow you to not stake it if you ever want to remove it.
Just for poops and giggles, I would go to a gun show or to Shotgun News, and spend ten bucks for the parts for a new assembly, and see it is stays in better, THEN stake and loc-tite it. Don't lose the click bearing.
Thanks guys. It is a new aftermarket sight assembly I got from Numrich. It's real nice though, excellent quality. I think a combination of staking, locktite and shiming should do the job but I thought I'd check here to see what kind of tips you guys might provide.
