When did Winchester ship the first part of the education order and what was the date of the last shipment of that order?

In late 1939, and early 1940 is my guess.

I don't have any idea what that might be, education contract order? Time for a google search? No results!

Granted on April 4th 1939
First 100 were delivered on December 27, 1940
Remaining 400 were completed by March 10, 1941

The second order for Winchester commenced in February of 1941

This quiz was to check to see how many of you guys read the American Rifleman.
One other point. How come most all Serial Number lists show that Winchester made all 500 M1 Garands in Jan. 1941. Odd I wonder why??

Hi all,
The First shipment of the Winchester Education Order is as follows:
First shipment was delivered on December 27, 1940
The last shipment was 100 M1 Garand Rifles completed by March 10, 1941.
So I wonder why most Serial Number Lists show all 500 Rifles listed as Jan. 1941??
