I just got a Danish Rack grade from CMP, got it about 3 weeks after mailing the order off. The throat is a 3 and the muzz is a 2 and the bore is very clean. That is the good news. I stripped the rifle down and cleaned the grease off of it. Now here is the more dumb on my part bad news. While putting the ejector into the bolt, most of you know what is coming next :) , I slipped and the ejector went flying. I am starting to think it flew off the face of the earth. I found the spring but no sign of the ejector. This was in my kitchen and looked every where I could think of, even checking the traps in the sink. So where is a good place to find a replacement ejector?
thanks

I would bet that the cmp will send one after hearing your sob story! :)

Dave

Using a plastic bag sounds like a good method.

I like the "magnet on a stick" tool from the auto-parts store. If I sweep a room with it, I can usually find the little part that went flying. The little detents in an AR15 are tough to find just by looking. Good luck.

I am gonna give one more good sweep before I order. it is a sob story though what is sadder than having a freshly cleaned, just purchased garand with a bandoler of ammo and cant shoot it. have been waiting to hear a ping since before I placed the order. I am planning on ordering from Fulton Armory if a sweep with a magnet dont turn up anything. is there anything that is garand nessary that I should order with the ejector since I will pay $8 shipping on a $5 part might as well make it worth while.
thanks,

I bet cmp will send a free one. If you do order, I suggest fire pin, extractor & spring, ejector & spring as a minimum.

have been waiting to hear a ping since before I placed the order

Load in an empty clip, push it down (IMPORTANT - Hold the handle, less you want an M1 thumb) enough that you can close the bolt. Pull the charging handle back quick, and there is your ping :)

I know what it's like with a new rifle. FWIW, the individual soldier was not supposed to dissassemble the bolt.

I use an M10 combo tool to do bolts, and you can just pluck the extractor right out. Handy tool--you put it in the chamber, ease the bolt up against it and rotate the M10 tool--the extractor lifts out.

just got off the phone with the cmp. they are gonna send me a replacement ejector for free :) . he did ask why I had the bolt apart, my response was that it was gummed up and I was sure that it would do an impression of a BAR if not cleaned. thank you all for the responses and advice. if anyone wants to know how to get ahold of the cmp gunsmiths 256-835-8455 and ext 21 or 31. hope to be shooting it soon. oh yeah the ping just isnt the same without the 8 bangs ahead of it.
thanks all!

Missing parts

No doubt you will find it soon after ordering or receiving the replacement. On occasion, I have had car parts disappear into a black hole, seemingly off the face of the earth, but they usually return after a replacement is procurred.

Except for the socks, that is. Why does *only one* always vanish? Answer that one and there's a Nobel prize for physics in your future....

Cheers
