Shot my crusty Blue Sky M1 Garand in a recent 3-gun. I'm terrible with rifles so pretty much couldn't hit any of the long steel, but if you can suffer through those bits there's some passable pistol and shotgun stuff. Pistol is Para Ordnance P14-45 limited, shotgun is Mossberg 590.

I really need to take a class or go to an Appleseed and learn how to shoot rifles at longer ranges. Maybe my eyes are just too bad or something. Or maybe it didn't like my softish reloads.

Video for any interested (click the gear symbol below the view window to watch in HD)

An M1 at long range works better with the thinner NM front sight. It's 62 thou thick vs the 72 thou of the regular blade. And good ammo.
Fulton sells the sight for $29.95. The ammo you reload using 168 grain HPBT match bullets and IMR4064 for out to 600. 175 grain match bullets with IMR4064 past there. Even a Blue Sky should shoot better with good ammo. Assuming your's wasn't damaged by their stamping.

No it grouped okay the one time I shot prone at paper. One of my better shooting M1s actually. The nut behind the trigger must be loose. :D

I'll try to work up some better loads and get it sighted in properly before my next attempt.

You can also change out the .080 diameter battle rear aperture for a .040 match/target aperture, but that makes the close in targets harder to acquire.
