I have shot and own one,and yes I do understand the desire to have these rifles returned to the U.S. The thought of these rifles falling into the wrong hands is utter nonsense. The Gangsta's would not have a clue what to do with them.

the obama anti import EO does not affect the military so almost none of these rifles will see issues. rifles on loan will be imported by the military or other government organizations and will not be hindered by the EO. the only M1s that would be possible to be imported by civilian organizations would be the ones in asia and those are in very rough shape and would likely sell for well above what a CMP garand sells for. BTW, CMP gets all their guns from military storage so they will not be affected in the least.

just so you know those petitions are a joke. I've signed dozens of them in regards to protecting our 2nd amendment rights and now once a month I get a canned message from obama thanking me for taking such an interest in public safety and informing me that he is going to be taking steps to get guns out of our hands so we can't hurt ourselves anymore.

the last time I went there to sign a petition(probably the same one you linked) there was a petition to have a replica of the tardis placed on the whitehouse lawn for a period of no less than 1 week for the 50 year anniversary of DR Who... we are officially a nation of morons governed by morons.
