If you don't like quiz questions don't read anymore. Thanks

Gentlemen,
As we all know that on Sept. 1, 1939 Germany attack Poland and WW2 started in Europe. However, that same date Springfield Armory passed a milestone in production of the M1 Garand Rifle. What was the milestone?

In my College of the M1 Garand which will soon begin classes this quiz would be rated as Hard. Have fun and checkout my site updates. All classes will be over the net.

ps need hits again On my sites just one each. I know it's a pain but it's better than asking you guys for donations

15,000th rifle built?

EDIT: Yeah, I'll stick with that. 14,823 was the last reported August '39 rifle built, I would think that 15,000 would have been cranked out that morning.

And here's a related question. What reasons did the Wehrmacht cite against fielding a semiautomatic service rifle, despite fielding a large number of machine pistols?

Interesting question VG. Would it be an emphasis on your basic infantryman's marksmanship vs. more "specialized" troops or officers being issues machine pistols (mp40's and the such)? Just an off the wall guess.

Gentlemen,

The answer to this quiz is as follows:

On September 1, 1939, Springfield Armory reached a daily production rate of 100 Garand rifles per day. Ordnance was keeping an eye on what was going on in Europe.
