M1 sling help

I bought a 1907 leather sling for my m1 and i cant figure out how to put it on the rifle or me. I think i may be missing some stuff. Does any one know a good help guide somewere on the internet for me to figure it out. I have looked but can only find poeple selling slings.

That's the original Army way of using the sling, which is not used by most shooters.

The one adopted by most highpower shooters is this method:

You will find that it is a lot easier to adjust this sling for parade to prone (or sitting/kneeling) that this method. You will also find that the above method is faster to get in and out of (and gives a tighter sling fit around the arm).

I use the M1907 with the claws toward the wood. Tends to scratch up the wood but much easier to use.

The web sling is actually a pretty good unit (unless it gets wet) and the price used to be nominal.
