OK Im either missing the obvious or this sint possibel to do! lol I have a RRA Car A4 with the telescopic stock and I want to put a Troy Industries single point CQB sling on. I have the sling already as well as the YHM sling adapter. I have to remove the reciever extension to get this on but I cant figure out how to get the damn thing off. Is there a special tool I need? Here is what Im trying to get on---- http://www.gandrtactical.com/cqd_files/cqd_rsm.htm Thanks for any help!

What you need is a spanner wrench

Hi There! You need to remove the lockring that is located between the front end of the telescoping stock and the back of the receiver. The tool you need to remove this is called a spanner wrench for the stock. These can be purchased from companies like Brownell's for $10.00-$15.00.

I just put one on my new RRA last week and it was tough :banghead: . It appears that they put Loctite on the lockring and I could not get it to budge with the standard spanner wrench. I had to have a friend place the gun in a vice and use a tool he built to gain extra leverage while removing the ring. My advice would be to have a competent gunsmith do the job so you don't risk damaging your rifle.

Good luck and enjoy your RRA!

You'll also want to degrease the threads and reapply loctite when you reinstall the retaining ring - otherwise it will work loose during shooting and your buffer tube extension can back out.

Don't put the actual rifle in a vise. Use a vise block.

Thanks for all the help! I figured I needed a special tool! I ordered on off of Sportsmans Guide. Its the DPMS muti-tool. I also ordered a vise block from Brownells.
