I have a M14 Socom 16 and purchased the Sage EBR stock and am waiting for it to arrive. I was just curious as to who else has the Sage stock and if there were any issues when putting together. I'm really looking forward to having it complete and taking it to the range and spitting out hot brass. Also what's a recommended bipod to purchase?

Ill second that atlas. I have had both and the atlas is by far the best. Costs more, but undoubtedly better than the harris.

Now, I am not downing the harris one bit. For what they cost, the do everything I can expect of them and do it pretty well. I have them on rifles, BUT if budget were not an issue, I would go atlas on every one of them.

Thanks for the bipod advice guys. Anyone else have an EBR and would like to post their pros and cons?

Pros: you get adjustable LOP and cheek height, a pistol grip, lots of rails, and tension bedding which increases accuracy.

Cons: It is heavy.

If you don't mind a heavy rifle, it's a good add on. If you want to keep it lighter, there are other stock options for pistol grips/rails/collapsible stocks/adjustable cheek rests, but none of them have the tension bedding. A metal frame clamped to your barreled action is just going to be kinda heavy no matter how you slice it.

Hope you like it. Give us a range report when you get it in.

Which version of the Sage did you get? Mod 0? Mod 1, etc?

I have to say Im with henschman, in that your rifle will be heavy. But I also have to say that I Love my SAGE stock and it was worth every penny...

I didn't know there were different mods. Whats the difference in the mods? Also as37692 did you have any issues putting together? like with the operating rod block?

There are two Mod types. The first is Mod 0 which is what I have on my rifle; it comes as you can see in the Navy Gray finish. The next is the Mod 1, which comes with a M4 Type collapsible stock and sort of a Tan finish. There is also the standard SAGE stock in the black and a somewhat rear model called the SAGE M39 stock, which is made in runs for the USMC for there M39 SDM Rifle.
As for installing the stock I had no real issues, other then it being very hard to get the old USGI op-rod block of the action, but after that it was just a matter of taping the new block on with a brass drift.

Ok yeah i know what you're talking about by mods. I got the same as you but instead of it being the Navy Gray finish its in black. What all did you do to get the old operating block off and also any way you can post pics of the new one? The more info I know the better you know.

Sorry I don't have any photos of the new op-rod block. As for getting the old block off, all I did was work slowly with a brass drift and hammer and tapped the old op-rod block off the end of the barrel, which tuck me about 20-minutes to do.
The most important thing is just to go slow, you don’t want damage the new block or your rifle.

Have to say that the Harris is prolly not the ideal bipod for a Sage stock. I'd prefer something with a native Picatinny attachment point. The Harris bipods will need an adapter- making an already heavy bipod heavier on an already heavy rifle with a heavier aftermarket stock.

I have a Harris 1A2-BRM on my M1a, but I'm running USGI fiberglass for a stock.

That said, GG&G has a bipod that is a little less expensive than the Atlas that has an NSN number (if that matters to you). It's a native Picatinny mount and weighs in at 11oz, just as the Atlas does.

I'm looking at getting an EBR Sage setup and have seen a side mount scope rail that mounts to the left side of the receiver on other setups. Can you use the standard side scope mount or do you have to have a special one to accommodate the EBR stock?

There is no issue using a standard side scope mount with a SAGE stock and the only way there might be an issue, is if you where to get one of the few side mounts that extend forward over the handguard area.

SAGE offers a handguard assembly that is milled to accomodate a side plate scope mount.
The standard picatinney top guard won't allow most side mounts to fit correctly, the rear slots need to be milled down.

Yes and No. A standard side mount that does not extend past the front of the receiver, will works just fine used with a standard SAGE Stock.
But yes also SAGE does make a top cover that has been milled to work with extended side mounts.

Good choice for a bipod. I have the HD-swivel version (can't tell if your's is the HD or not) on my SRS and it has performed well thus far.

:)
