So I just had to buy SOMETHING at the gun show yesterday, and someone was selling what looked like an M14 stock for $5.00, so I bought it.

Its fiberglass, which was kinda a surprise since I thought they were all wood. Doing a little internet research I fing out they are made in both,
not to mention the Springfield M1A.

Did true GI M14s ever get made in fiberglass?

Sorta toying with the idea of building one over a perod of time. I see a lot of mention of a place called "Freds", is that a good source for parts and info and such?

Thanks!

I understand that fiberglass M14 stocks were made to replace the wood stocks when the rifle was used in South East Asia.

I have a fiberglass stock on my target M1A. I bought it used from a HP match shooter. It is a very stable stock with a little glass bedding to help that stability along.

I'd say you got a bargain.

Thats why I love it here!:D

In one year of owning firearms, THR has made the most difference in enjoying my new found passion.

Sure, it can get old when new folks ask the same old questions, but I always feel as we're helping promote enjoyment of guns and shooting....

Thanks, all!

They aren't old questions when they are being asked sincerely by people for the first time (assuming they did a search first - LOL).

Are you going to build an M14-type up around that stock?
