Greetings all. You know, I thought the price of 7.62x39 ammo was getting out of hand, but 5.56/.223 is even worse. I want to put aside some high quality M193-spec ammo for a rainy day.
XM193(non-PD)seems to be held in high regard, although I have no personal experience with it. It runs between 240.00 to 260.00 a case when you can find it. On the other hand I can pick up Win. Q3131 at BassPro for 224.50 a case. I've shot mostly UMC .223 thru my AR and while it has been reliable and fairly accurate I'm looking for something loaded to a true M193-spec.
Any input on these rounds or any other suggestions/input would be appreciated.

ammoman claims he set a new record by selling 600 cases of it in 24 hrs... geez

but my advice is to roll your own. last several rounds i loaded cost me $65/1000 (not counting the cases, which i already have) using actual M193 pulldowns

I like Winchester 62 grain Q load and usually keep one or two cases on hand.
Last I bought was $215 or so a case but I get a discount.

Agreed Jag, 5.56 Mil-spec stuff is going the way of gas these days. I just bought 1000rnds of XM855PD for 200 even at Nanchez, and I'm starting to have second thoughts about that.

Personally, I'm picking up my brass these days and once this 1000 is gone, I'm picking up a lee turrent press and solving this problem once and for all(??)

If the people buying the XM193 is actually shooting this stuff at the range, they aren't at my range. All the people shooting .223 always seem to be shooting steel case Wolf at my range.

You guys can have the XM193 ammo. I just want the LC brass.

I bought some of ammoman's XM193, but I don't remember it costing that much -- price must be going up. Good stuff.

ocabj, shooting Wolf and stashing the good stuff seems to be alot of people's plan. It will be mine to, to a degree anyway.

riverdog, XM193 has gone up in cost drastically in the last six months. Along with about everything else I guess.
