TexasRifleman-Smith Enterprises has a weaver mount for $105. It is all steel and very well made. It is the best deal out there.

I was looking at a Smith that had a rail and was around $200. I will see if I can find the one you mention.

Thanks!

This is Smith's write up on the mount.

2024 Weaver-style M14 Scope Mount
The overwhelming response to our 2006 sale on this "discontinued" design has led us to put it back, yes -- back into production. Same high quality 4140 Chrome Moly construction as before. We've even kept the old pricing! Requires use of Weaver-style rings. $105.00

too heavy. I put a scope on my FAL for hunting, never took it out once... simply too heavy.

With DSA lightening parts, I got my 16 inch FAL down to 7.5 pounds unloaded.

Pretty light for a 308 battle rifle.

Not true. There is a limit to the number of rounds a shotgun can hold, but no restrictions on rifle capacity. I'm still planning on using ten or five rounders just to save on weight though. My m1a weighs about ~13 pounds!!!

My M1A is the rifle I'm most comfortable with. I planned to hunt with it. Put on a scope and cheek rest. Found a hunting round it liked the federal fusion 165 grain. But after a few hunting trips with lighter rifles with hikes that kicked my butt. I'm going to build up some stamina before the m1a comes out.
