Took the Belgian B out this past Saturday with a couple boxes of PRVI Partisan 185gr, made in Serbia. This stuff is brass cased and boxer primed.

It shoots high out of this rifle, but then anything I've tried so far under 200gr. does also.

Clean ammo, left very little poo in the barrel after about 30 rounds.

Rings gongs quite well. :D

Here is a pic of the only group I shot with it. 100 yards off a sandbag. 5 shots with a 2 inch spread. If not for the highest hole the group would have held about 1.5 inches. She's a keeper! ;)

I love the stock on your rifle. I need to take my M39 to the range as well. I have some "match" ammo that I'd like to test out. Have you fired any of the older ammo out of the M39? I normally won't fire junk ammo through my good rifles.

If by "older" you mean surplus, then yes I've tried many different types of surplus.

Hungarian heavyball has performed the best for me and both of my M39's. Not tried the Bulgarian which I've read is pretty good too.

Believe it or not, the best shooting, POA = POI, new commercial stuff I've tried to date has been Barnaul (Brown Bear) 203gr softpoints. Those things hit where I aim at all ranges. No need to aim @ 6 with the da Bears. :p

Not seen any match grade stuff anywhere round these parts, but I'll snap it up if I do.

Ya know, Tennessee Gun Parts sells a taller front sight for the M39:

That is some beautiful striping on that stock. ;)

My M39s love Yugo ammo too. Mine's all older 70's and 80s stuff though. I haven't tried that new stuff.

Most surplus ammo is not junk. Especially not 7.62x54R. You just have to realize it's corrosive and clean the bore accordingly with soap and water.
