darrell mount

how did you get it to stay on and not come off during recoil? I have the same mount for 91/30, it would not stay on very well at all. on one hand i am told not to tighten it too much, on the other i have brass streaks heading up my rear sight.

Love the FPS video game aspect in the first post. :D

Needs some bad guys, a floating crosshair, a health bar, and an ammo count though. :p

Some 91/30's have a sight base made of thinner steel than others. On my Tikka M-30 I had to use some silver solder to get it to stay put. It should be fine on standard pre-war Soviet Mosins.

Thanks; been wondering how long it is in light of the "scout rifle" idea. Knew it would be heavy with the wood stock. Anyone put a plastic stock on one?

ctdonath: Man, I'm just cackling over here. :D

Anyway, this thing fails the Cooper Scout Rifle rules pretty spectacularly. It's about a foot too long and probably about five pounds too heavy. But it's my rifle, and I love it. :)

Now, if you started with an M38 carbine and worked from there, you'd be able to come in just a couple of inches too long and right about the right weight (maybe an extra pound). Surplusrifle writeup.

I always thoguht of them more as suggestions or guidelines, not neccesarily specifications or rules. If it works, then it works. ;)

But it's my rifle, and I love it. :)
And that's all that matters.

Dangit, now I want one!

I recognize that range. I am there most Tuesdays and Thursdays. I also shoot at SSI.

That mount looks great. I will probably have to get one now.

Very nice looking rifle. I have two M39's. One looks like it got dragged behng a jepp for a few miles and the other looks almost new. Both shoot great. In order for the rifle to be accepted by the Finnish military, it had to shoot within 1.5 MOA. Probably the tightest specs of any military rifle of the time.
