Yesterday I picked up this FAL, an M444. Cruffler.com states in its review that these rifles were made in Brazil by Imbel, sold to Chile, imported by Pacific Armory Corporation, and reassembled on a new gear logo Imbel receiver with suitable American parts by Liberty Armory of Liberty, Texas (or Israel Arms of Houston?). The receiver is marked with the names of all three companies. The seller replaced the original furniture with DSA product and replaced the rear sight with another peep sight. He installed a DSA scope mount which has scratched the receiver. To move the gas adjustment dial I have to use a wrench; it is too stiff to be turned by hand. The feed ramp of the Imbel receiver is the preferred dualbrow or dual scalloped version, with the rise in the middle. The scallops are wider than I have seen before and the bullet tips actually touch them, judging by the brass marks. I look forward to firing this rifle, which I am confident will work fine, in contrast to my Century FAL, which had serious feeding problems.
