Ok, that's pretty convoluted. Recently a Highpower shooter in Austrailia had an MAB barrel split. Apparently several of them have done this, and now the NRAA has banned them from all NRA ranges in Autrailia. Here's the official letter from NSWRA:

URGENT NOTICE
To: ALL MEMBERS, CLUBS AND DRA’s

A notice from the NRAA was distributed on the 23rd April 2004 recommending that all MAB barrels be banned from use as a result of a barrel failure on Saturday 17th April.

The NSWRA has been liaising with the NRAA to clarify this situation, but the NRAA advises that they have not received adequate responses to date from MAB.

Having taken into consideration the NSWRA’s requirement to consider the safety of our members, we advise that commencing immediately, THE USE OF MAB BARRELS IS NOT PERMITTED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. This applies to all NSWRA members and to all participants in events conducted on ranges operated by NSWRA affiliated organisations.

Members should realise that our insurance will not respond should another MAB barrel fail during this period.

Members should contact MAB directly to determine whether they are affected by this matter. Further information on the status of the situation will be provided as soon as received from the NRAA.

Yours faithfully
Stephen Negus
Deputy Chairman

Now, add to this that MAB is very connected with the Metal Storm project (for example):

And we have great conversation fodder.

Aussies, lay down your MABs!
