Maddi "AK" parts: are any major parts original?

Typo, a local guy has a "Maadi" for sale. "AK" is an AK clone. Most us know this, as none are select-fire. Anyway--

Noticed that Atlantic Firearms sold these recently (now "Sold out"), but with a Nodak Spud receiver--although known to be a quality component--this means that the only major original Egyptian part is the barrel,
if the op rod is also US-made, does it not? I doubt that even the trigger group is original.

If so, it seems to be merely a legalistic marketing tactic that so many AK clones are labeled as Hungarian, Polish, Egyptian etc. This might exclude Chinese Mak 90s imported before the import ban, as the trigger I just tried has parts highly-polished by the Chinese.

Depends on the importer marking
Steyr imports are early, all correct and expensive.
B-West came later, had "Thumbhole" stocks and turned muzzles without compensator or muzzle threads.
The rest of the weapon is all Egypt unless it has been altered stateside after sale.
There may have been another importer along with B West in that era.

Rest of the MAADI rifles are a mis mash of cobbled parts.

Intrac is another. My RPM is all Egyptian only because of the neutered configuration. Change thumbhole stock( for pistol grip, etc.) or add a muzzle brake and requirements change.

The country of origin listed on many AKs is often referring to the original parts kit origin. Trunions, gas block, FSB, barrel... those are all critical (maybe not the FSB?) components that can have significant variations depending on origin.

The gas piston, FCG, and furniture are all easily swapped parts, and they count for 922r compliance, so those will most always be changed to domestic parts. All the parts kits I've seen are from originally full-auto guns, and the receivers wouldn't be legal to import under current US law anyway, so the receivers are destroyed and parts are installed on new, US-made receivers.

The only photo with stamped info states: "ARM Semi-Auto Rifle, Cal. 7.62x39, Maadi ---(not legible in photo), Made In Egypt". No US company name is provided.

As a group, are all Maadis--no matter which US company rebuilt receivers, swapped parts--considered some of the more reliable builds, and as durable as any of the Polish, "Yugo"/Serbian Zastavas?

Depends how old it is.

An older rifle might be all original parts.

With a newer one, 922r and the barrel ban means that it will need so many US made parts. Atlantic's Maadi's probably had American made barrels.

To a degree. There are significantly different patterns, and varying amounts of fit, finish, and wear. And on a kit gun, the quality of assembly and the quality of the compliance parts are additional factors.

If the importer can work with the factory, the receivers and barrels can be original too.

As a group, the quality of Maadi's are highly variable. The earlier models are supposed to be quite good, and the later ones quite poor. The ARM's are supposed to be quite decent. No side rail, though.
