Since this is thread # 8 billion on the subject, I figured I'd skip the "which one should I buy?" part and simply ask if this guy here:

description(edited for easier reading, excuse the caps.)
THESE BEAUTIFUL ROMAINIAN CIVIL GUARD MILITARY AK RIFLES ARE THE MOST ORIGINAL ROMAINIAN AK RIFLE VARIATION AVAILABLE TODAY. UNLIKE THE WASR-10 AK VARIATIONS WHICH ARE BASICALLY BUILT FOR CIVILIAN EXPORT, THESE WERE RIFLES ORIGINALLY DISIGNATED FOR THE MILITARY BUT DISASSEMBLED AND SOLD AS PARTS TO THE U.S. WHEN THE ROMAINIANS ADOPTED THE 5.45 CALIBER.

THE KITS USED FOR THESE BUILDS HAVE VIRTUALLY NO WEAR AND REALLY NICE BORES. THESE G CODE RIFLES ARE ASSEMBLED ON ORIGINAL HI-CAP U.S. MADE SEMI-AUTO RECEIVERS MANUFACTURED BY NODAK. THESE RECEIVERS ARE ORIGINAL FACTORY HI-CAPS AND HAVE THE DIMPLES FOR ADDED STRENGTH AND MAG SUPPORT ABOVE THE MAG WELLS.

THEY ARE MUCH LIKE THE SAR-1 VARIATIONS WHICH ARE NO LONGER IMPORTABLE. EACH RIFLE FEATURES A TAPCO U.S. MADE G-2 TRIGGER SET, THESE TRIGGER SETS HAVE BEEN SLIGHTLY MODIFIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NODAKS RECOMMENDATIONS TO INSURE SURE FIRE, NO FAULT PERFORMANCE. ALSO FEATURES A U.S MADE TAPCO GAS PISTON, AND U.S. MADE 45% COMPENSATOR. THESE COMPENSATORS ARE ALSO MADE BY TAPCO AND ARE DESIGNED SO THAT THEY CAN BE LOCKED INTO THE EFFECTIVE POSITION FOR EITHER THE RIGHT HANDED OR LEFT HANDED SHOOTER.

TO ME THESE ARE THE NICEST AND CLOSEST TO A TRUE ORIGINAL ROMAINIAN AK-47 RIFLE AVAILABLE. EACH RIFLE IS EXPERTLY ASSEMBLED AND QUALITY CHECKED TO INSURE PROPER MAG FIT, PERFECT SIGHT RADIUS, ETC. THEY HAVE ALSO BEEN FEED AND FUNCTION TESTED.

is a decent buy? classicarms has them at $399 and some change and its kinda calling me.

Thanks in advance.

(and before you say "search n00b, search" I've been doing that since I registered. :D)

I'm sure it would be a decent buy. You can't really get Yugo AK's that easily any more. For a Romanian AK, this is probably as good as they come. If I were you, I'd get it.

that actually looks pretty nice for 400 bucks. Only downside is the fact that it's a Rom. However, the description says its a Romy G, and i havent heard anything bad about those; it's usually WASRs and earlier that get the bad words thrown around about them.

I'm thinking about getting one of those now :)

If you get it, give us a range report.

+1 Have to agree with Starship 1St.

If I did not buy and convert a saiga this would be my choice. It's a G model so no need to worry about mag wobble because it was a military version and was not opened up. Classic says they test fired and checked these so I would assume the sights and gas block are not canted, and has the tapco trigger so no slap. It has a side rail if that is what you like and really any ak goes bang so it appears to be a great buy considering the rising prices lately.

I must be honest though and say if this is gonna be your only ak as it is mine I would go for a saiga conversion. Check out the topic WHERE CAN I GET A SAIGA. I posted how I converted a Saiga for 435 dollars and one hour of work. It has a skeleton stock which is what I prefer. If you want the original AK look then it will cost you a bit more and is more difficult. (worth it though, it's a freakin russian)

Romanian parts kit, decent to better than decent.

NoDak receiver, pretty much great.

The only question is assembly, and it's pretty hard to screw it up (though Century has managed it in the past).

Get it.

a lot of people who have bought the romanian parts kit builds from classic arms have experienced problems with their rifles. just throwing that out there.

I wouldn't worry when buying from Classic. They have an excellent return policy. If you're not happy, just send it back. I spoke with them on the phone and they said that they rarely if ever get returns on that AK.

Pull the trigger on this decision and get it! Be sure to keep us posted.

Romy G kits make really nice rifles and Classic Arms are great poeple to deal with, so there is no down side to this. At $399 you can't beat this rifle and you don't have to mess with altering the Saiga. I've never heard any bad reports about any AKs sold by Classic Arms. I bought a Yugo U/F from them, ask them to check it out before sending it to me, they did that and I got a prefect AK. I would not hesitate to buy from them again.

Saiga and Vector are the best builds IMO. if you don't want to screw with converting the saiga, or pay more than the saiga is worth, then get the Vector.

I'm going to sleep on it over the weekend and see about pulling the trigger (heh) Monday.

This isn't a WASR. Consider it is a rifle made from a semi-only parts kit on a superb receiver with a chrome-lined barrel. I would prefer it over a Yugo, personally.
