Lone_Gunman, others. I rec'd this "news" in an email from a former co-worker, figured ok its just shows absurdity of people and what not. This celebrity never has meant anything to me.

Then , I rec'd a follow up email. This person knew I was into shooting. This" news " was to persuade me guns and hunting wrong he he he So I took The High Road

I sent a links, providing the Contitution, and BoR. I suggested she obtain a passport and keep these documents together. I suggested she then go to England and live for awhile since she believe so strongly in their way of conducting things. Read documents and live in England--whichever she feels the most good about--stick with it.

Blocked sender from my email (which she also finds tacky) and wished her well. OH suggested she read 1984 en-route.

Where's the Bon-Voyage smilie ?

If no one's listening, I'll admit to liking several Madonna songs. She is a shrewd businesswoman or at least was at her prime.

However, much like some religions, I don't understand the idea behind doing a 180 on something you used to believe in. I mean, you're wearing fur coats one day, then the next, your husband can't hunt? I don't think so...

Next she is going to oppose eating meat and drinking milk because the souls of dead cows and swine will come haunt her.:banghead:

I was going to chime in with you, but remember: Some TFL/THR people used to be antis!!! *shudder*

Can you blame someone for "seeing the light?" :p

(Though not in this case, but you know what I mean...)

I don't care much for Madonna's views but she was a terrific entertainer early on (small smile as I recall the "Like a Virgin" video). Celebrities never cease to amaze me or our fascination with them.

I'll admit to enjoying some of her music also. I like her ballads, some of her softer songs are very peaceful.

Besides - AFAIC, talent is something God gives us - we don't "create" it.

But all I had to do was listen to one of her concerts that was aired on HBO to decide I wanted no part of her. I didn't appreciate the utterly foul language & "shock value" of her performance.

Many of us mellow as we get older; maybe she will too & will feel differently about her antics of the past. But I won't hold my breath!

I neither care what madonna thinks nor if she happens to croak tomorrow...I'm disinterested in her existence..hows that for honesty:what:

I've also heard from actual followers of Kaballah that what she's into has about as much relation to it as the moonbats who wear healing crystals have to Druids.

In other words, she's just one more Hollywood moonbat.

LOL. Healing white light and magic rocks...

At her age, I hope she doesn't trip and fall off that silly cross she plans on doing her show from. She might need her Geritol.

<<Madonna has banned hunting from her country estate because she's worried the souls of dead birds will return to haunt her. >>

We should really all support her on this. I don't go small game hunting, but anyone who does, should support her on this, by donating to her cause and worries.
After hunting birds. Mail one bird of your choice to her contact address (whatever that might be).
And on the return address put,

OK, it's an ancient thread, but I'll make one contribution:

If you are worried about the spirits of the dead come to haunt you, you have one course of action:

Take a shotgun and torch it into a bunch of small pieces and then melt it down. Use the soul of the now-departed shotgun on the souls of the haunting critters. Problem solved.

I'm a theologian, so I know this will work...

Oh my broken heart what shall I do

I think I will go find a bird like beanie baby and shoot it for a few hours

Guys, if you don't know anything about Kabbalah in particular or Jewish mysticism in general please have the good grace to keep quiet about it. So far none of the comments has shown any familiarity at all with the subject. Many of you are religious and would be profoundly offended if derisive comments demonstrating similar ignorance were directed at your own beliefs.

Her religious beliefs hold that killing for food is acceptable, but killing for pleasure is barbaric. One may not agree with that, but it's a consistent and defensible position. Millions of Buddhists and hundreds of millions of Hindus, not to mention a fair number of Jews, Christians and Muslims believe exactly the same thing. I must confess to finding trophy hunting to be a disturbing pass-time. Killing something just to watch it die and take home its head to look at forever is one of the many pleasures I must not be wired for. Hunting for food? Yeah. It's a useful skill and an honest, sometimes pleasant, way of putting free-range grass-fed meat in the freezer. Keeps the deer from starving.

Now, as to Madonna, like or dislike her there's no doubt she's adaptable, durable, and built a career through an intelligent campaign to give people what they want to hear. Anyone who can still do a stage show like hers in her mid 40s shows a dedication to physical fitness and hard work that is truly staggering. As a singer? Her technical skills aren't bad, certainly as good as most female vocalists. Her private life? None of my business really. From what I understand she's a devoted mother. What she does in her bedroom is something about which a gentleman would not inquire.

I'm on the same page as both Drjones & our friend Todd (Tellner).

Tellner posted just before this one.

Here's what Drjones wrote:

She is a great entertainer, and I really do love her music.
As an electronic musician, I thought her CD Ray of Light set new standards in pop music. It was truly spectacular.

And like Todd, I also have reservations about "sport" hunting.

Food? Sure. But hunting for sport? Sorry, no.

So where does that leave us?

This is THR, your moderated but {mostly} uncensored gun forum.

P'man, good to see you back around. I've been worried about you. Where the h' you been, dude?

..taking someone like madonna or any pop-tart star seriously is pretty funny...and watching others trying to make them look like deep, beautiful people is a riot...but then I never have called this time an era of good taste..
some people it seems needs some other people to worship...I do know a few fine, truly exceptional people..but none are pop stars...not one...

one last point...regulated hunting does more than offer the sport to sportsmen...it also is the means to keep the species of animal in balance with it's habitat...you see..with all the humans around...things are unbalanced...if a deer herd goes unchecked..sooner or later it will outstrip it's habitat and must have a die-off...so a yearly hunt is set by the game dept. to effectively control the numbers..and despite the mistakes made today and yesterday, it works quite well overall...very similar to an overgrown forest that will pay heavily with fire if left unchecked too long...better to thin it continuely than too watch it burn terribly later...

I've known a fair number of musicians of many sorts. They have their peculiarities, but I've never noticed that the ones who did popular music were any less worthy than anyone else. There's no shame in doing something that large numbers of people enjoy and making money at it.

You're absolutely right about hunting being necessary to keep some herbivore populations down. It's the sort of thing that the government would have to pay rangers to do if hunters didn't voluntarily line up to pay money for the privilege. The decrease in hunting in some states is a cause for concern.
