So it appears that while im using my Speer Gold Dots my magazine wants a extra push to snap into place. I appears to stop when theres only about half an inch left to be fully inserted. Is this normal if using a different type of ammo? I may be over reacting. Ive tried with other ammo and getting the same result. Maybe I just didnt realize it earlier?

I forgot to mention this is a ruger P345. Thanks in advance for the help!

My Colt Government does that with an empty mag. So does my Inglis HP. A wee smack going in isn't a big deal as long as the empty mag drops out with no help. The heel of your hand doesn't get used for anything else. Ok, maybe for giving your other half a back rub, but nothing else.

You are actually compressing the rounds in the mag a bit when seating against a closed slide. That is what allows them to pop up to be stripped during feeding. Nothing wrong if that is the case.
