Some of you folks with experience carrying Hi-Powers out there, I need some advice.

I'm looking for two types of magazine holders to carry standard hi-power mags, the ones with the little spring at bottom of them.

First pouch is for external carry. I am looking for a full flap - military type - for when I am carrying the gun in an open fashion and engaged in various outdoor activities in rain or snowy weather - where you'd want to protect the mags from both wet and scraping type damage during movement.

The second pouch type is for an "on the body" (IWB and or OWB) concealed carry mode for a woman.

Also - any advice on a good external full flap type holster for the Hi-Power would be appreciated.

Cheers!

For the first type, I just use a Leatherman tool sheath. It fits well and has a leather flap that keeps debris out well.

As for the holster, something like the Bianchi M12, UM84, or UM92 would work. I forget which fits the hi-power.

I can understand the desire for carrying a spare magazine, in my case, with a 15 round mag, one in the chamber and 14 in the magazine, I decided I had no need for a extra magazine. Just one more thing to get in the way and to cover up. I could not envision a situation where I would need that much firepower. But of course that is just my mind set:)

I also run that same Safariland 123. It's about as good as I've found when you want the mag covered but it's also fast and easy to draw from. When I carry one of my HK 9mms that's the mag pouch I usually use.
