I was wondering what you all do about magazine rust? I got some mags in a while back that looked kinda rusty on the inside. I scrubbed them out with CLP and a little 0000 steel wool and they looked pretty good. I eventually sent a few out for nickel plating and they look pretty good now but still a few small rust spots inside. Is it one of those things that I shouldn't worry about because it will take so long for them to rust out?

I've bathed cast iron parts in vinegar for a few hours before to loosen rust, maybe so something like that and give them a really good clp wipe down after?

You did right -- now a bit more preventive maintenance might be added to your schedule and prevent such from happening again...

Some of my magazines are stainless but the springs still arent. I make a whole process out of disassembling the magazines and wiping everything down with Breakfree CLP. This takes place about once a year, usually on a terrible winter day when I can't do anything else and I feel like playing with my guns.

I use wax on the insides of my mags. I stay away from all liquid lubes for the insides.

A couple of them were a little rusty on the inside right out of the factory bag from mecgar.

Sounds good guys, I'll try some Corrosion X or wax. Its not a lot of rust that forms but I find even if I leave them for a few months in my safe after wiping down the interior with CLP that I still get a light rust in the corners of the mag or along the interior mag seam weld.
