I have a long-term CZ-97 I have been shooting for nearly 2 years now. I'm currently at about 6,500 rounds. My personal goal is to see what malfunctions, how long things last, what needs replacing, & when.
Once I dialed in my handload for this pistol, 4.6-4.8gns WW231/200 LSWC, it has sailed through 4,000+ rounds w/o a single ammo related problem. I had a diagonal jam the other day; the bullet was nose up and caught between the slide breech and feed ramp, which happened during some rapid fire drills at 12 yards. It appears as thought inertia drove the bullet from the mag.
I inspected the mag spring and it was much shorter than a new mag spring. I had also noticed how easy it had gotten to load a full mag. I subsequently replaced the mag spring with a new one I had on hand.
I also plan on replacing the recoil spring. From now on, I'll do a "re-spring" at the 5,000 round count. This is the first semi-auto I have ever done 6,500 rounds through this quickly with and kept the same springs intact.
I pose this since I assume 5,000 rounds is a good number to re-spring a semi-auto?
