With a surefire magazine modified to fit the saiga does one still need a bullet guide? It appears to sit inside the receiver at the same height as the original. Also the TAPCO magazine follower for ak's says to increase the 5 round mags to 10 round mags. Will this also increase a 30rd mag to a 35 round mag?

No.

Dunno for sure, but I doubt it. The five round magazines tend to be ten rounders with long followers. (A true five round magazine wouldn't stick out the bottom of the receiver..)

Im gonna give it a shot. I took the follower out and compared it to the pic on the tapco website and the follower in my 30rd was alot taller. Im not sure if it was 5rds worth but it has to make for some extra room. For $2.49 the curoisity out weighs the cost.
