Then I compared the weight to a Blackhawk and made other plans as the BFR was just too heavy. Stan
That's the reason why my 7.5" Redhawk is for sale now. IMO, there is no substitute for handling characteristics of NMBH standard, especially Bisley, even with 7.5" barrels. There is a reason why so many cherished old Flattops, and Ruger started making them again. Also, new GP100 10mm Auto has a barrel thread 11/16", even larger than S&W N-frame https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/lipsey-ruger…ask-for-a-gp100-in-41-magnum.898006/page-5#post-12137892 . Could that be a hint that Ruger considering DA revolver on a par with Flattop?

Personally wouldn't be too opposed to a long - cylinder .357 or .44 Magnum - I can imagine all the leeway one would have with handloads.

Most of our big revolvers aren't really for off - hand shooting anyway

When I saw this, I went to BFR website, and there is no such revolver listed there. However, when searched internet mentioning Keith's base pin latch, I found it:

Magnum Research BFR Elmer Keith #5 https://americanhandgunner.com/handguns/magnum-research-bfr-ek5-keith-special-revolver/ . It's made by their Custom Shop:

The Keith Base Pin Latch is available through the custom shop. That feature alone was like an extra $600 if I recall correctly.

One thing I don't get on revolver above; they went to great length in creating a Keith's #5 style cylinder pin latch, but pin itself has nothing to do with Keith's original design, talking about front end.

Here is how pin #5 should look:

I have Ruger SBH converted to Bisley, and the first things I had done after conversion was to get #5 pin from Belt Mountain. The difference in handling comparing original Ruger pin with #5 is like night and day.
