What is the improvement on the Gen 2 ? Just wondering if they are sturdy and rock solid , no slack if wiggled on both sides ? If compared to the Daniel Defense fixed rear A1 which cost a little more but the negative side it becomes an obstruction if you attach a Eotech holographic sight forward of it.

The reason i ask is i may get a Spike Tactical Midlength M 4 someday and from the pic they have MBUS gen 2 rear sight on it. A friend gave me a Chicom clone HD-5 552. But if opt to swap to a Daniel Defense A1 rear sight , would that be an hindrance to use the HD -5 552 ?

Opinions vary but IMHO I do not like a fixed rear BUIS with a red dot or holographic sight. It can still work though.

The MBUS gen 2 rear is basically just slimmer than the gen 1. It also has both apertures with identical centers vs. slightly different on gen 1, but if you care about that level of detail you're probably not looking seriously at MBUS anyway. That's about it. The gen 2 front has more improvements, namely a conventional elevation mechanism, along with being slimmer. I don't consider the gen 1 MBUS to wiggle, but if you do I don't think you'll find the gen 2 different. It is a feature of the design that the uprights aren't fixed in place and will move under pressure - but it takes a decent amount of pressure, and in comparison the Troy and Samson rear BUIS I have both wiggle much more easily under minor movement.
