mags keeping them loaded? bad for springs?

Dunno if this has already been answered. I think the thing that weakens a spring it the loading and unloading of the spring. If it is at 0 tension of at tension in a static state it should not weaken the spring. I am only saying this with my experience in industrial applications. I keep my magazines loaded and have for years with no ill effects.

That is a fact that every engineer is taught.

I had occasion to get some magazines which had been loaded for at least fifty years. They all fed properly.

If steel is not stressed beyond its yield strength, it won't "go bad". A magazine spring which quits on you was pretty cheap stuff to begin with, but it won't "take a set" just from being compressed for a lengthy period.

And that's enough for this repeat of the subject.
