I have loaded lots of different brand bullets for my handgun loads but Magtech bullets have got to be the worst bullets ever for consistency. I am seating and crimping in two different stations and for some reason every time I use the magtech bullets when they get out of the crimp die they very in OAL by a lot in my opinion. Way more than any other bullet maker I have used. I even tried seating and crimping in the same die and it did not help. These loads I loaded were supposed to be @ 1.585" OAL and they are coming out anywhere from 1.571"-1.591". If I use any other brand bullet they will come out 1.584"-1.585" every time. The weights are very inconsistent, the length of the bullets are very inconsistent, and the cannulure's are very inconsistent. I will never buy Magtech bullets again.

Interesting. I have had good luck with them in .38 Spl and .44 Mag. I quit buying them when they started costing as much as other brands like Hornady etc.

Yea they're expensive when I see them. I always have very good luck with their factory stuff though and I enjoy using their cases.

Yeah, interesting. I've had good luck with their primers and their factory-loaded stuff that I've occasionally tried. I will look close before buying any of their bullets for loading though. Can you see differences in the cannelure location with just your Mark I/Mod 0 eyeball or do you need a mic to measure?

This may sound stupid, but it couldn't be crud on the bullets or in the die, making your OALs inconsistent could it? (gotta ask - I don't mean to offend)

Me too...
I have loaded Magtech bullets in several different cartridges and they were always very accurate for me and I had no meaningful variation in OAL.

My favorite Magtech bullet and loaded cartridge for that matter is the .32 S&W Long with the 100 grain Semi-jacketed HP. Looks like the 125 grain .357 Semi-Jacket, and that .32 S&W Long is nothing to sneeze at for personal protection as far a car length for example.
