Hey guys. My buddy pick up an old 1990 Bulgarian Makarov that was in pretty rough shape and I ended up with it :). All of my other projects are mostly caught up so I thought I would try my hand at freshening her up a little. I have been a big fan of moly-resin over the years, so I chose flat black for the slide and greyish-black flat for the frame. I am very happy with the results. I also added superluminova paste on the front sight. Perhaps I should put her in the "truck gun" rotation :) Thank you for looking. Kevin.

Thank you sir for the kind words. I am so bad at taking before pictures. I guess its because I'm all caught up in the moment of trying to make it look better that I dont think about it.

I realize that its "just" a Makarov, but it was a fun project none-the-less.

I have seven " just Makarov's" and love to shoot them, like most commie stuff they are not finely assembled pieces except for my E.G. Yours looks great in the photos, I am not familiar with the finish is it very durable? I certainly have used worse for my Truck Gun.

The Pearce rubber grip is the only way to go on a Makarov.

Beautiful looking finish. Let us know how that Moly Rosin holds up! I'd rather have some better input on it vs, Parkerizing than the internet banter that seems to turn the subject into a blur.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I have used Moly-Resin for years now on my AK's. It holds up great. However, there may be better products on the market, but I have no experience with them. I cut my teeth on John Norrell's products so I'm very familiar with it and comfortable with its application process. Thank you again! Kevin.

Whooo, that's sharp. My IJ-70 is jealous. Is the old finish completely removed first? I'd like to try something like that on a CZ-82 that has the usual chipped-paint look they get.

Thank you sir, the old finish is not removed. You just need to blast it to rough it up some in order for the Moly-resin to adhere. On this particular project, I blasted it with baking soda. Kevin.

I'm reading through Norrell's website now. Thanks for the tip!

Looks good. They get a rep for being a "cheap gun" but IMHO the Makarov has some of the sleekest lines on any pistol. In good condition or properly refinished I'd put it only behind a 1911 and a Browning HP.

I really need to see about getting another one. Mine is one of the commercial .380 models with the dinky adjustable sight. I replaced that with an aftermarket fixed but that still looks odd b/c it has to take up all the space that the adjustable did.
