Hey everyone.

I'm kinda thinking I'd like to try to make my own vertical foregrip for my WASR. It's just the standard WASR, looks like all the rest of them. It has wood furniture, and what I'm thinking is that I'd like to make a new bottom handguard with a vertical grip on it. I'd like to make this out of one piece of wood and just put it in place of the current guard. I do not want to modify the existing piece of wood.

What I need to know is how to get the current foregrip off of the rifle so that I can a) have a model to work with and b) put the new one on.

I know I could just buy one, but I like to tinker and I'd rather spend the $$ on ammo instead. If anyone has any tips on how to go about it, what wood to use, etc, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Packman.

clear the rifle/
pop the dust cover off. remove spring, bolt carrier and bolt
theres a lever on the right side of the rear sight bases. swing it up.
lift off the gas tube. look down at the handguard. if will have a metal end cap.
on the inside right side will be a tinny little lever, swing it up. and push the metal band towards the muzzle.
slide the handguard off. may take some force.

seriousy. buy a rommy lower handguard that comes with the forgrip. then modify till you like it.

Not as easy as I'm thinking, huh? Well, are there any good places where I could buy just a wood foregrip? without all the other furniture? I want to keep it wood, I don't want sythetic/wood, and I'm not replacing all of it at this point.

Hoppy, I've gotta ask....how in tarnation did you use a WASR to get your car out of a snow bank?

You should see the guy also in this forum who wanted to saw the pistol grip off of his AK. Trade with him, save you both some work.

$7.50 at an auto parts store!

they make excellent shoves. and if you slide parts of the box under the tires you get traction :) . it wasnt actualy a snow bank. but thats the best way i can describe getting my car stuck in an unplowed section of a range parkin lot

Also check the for sale threads too, you often see the loose romanian G forward grips for sale for less than Copes is selling them for
