Ah heck, I'll go ahead and post a coupla pics of my Springfield GI45 M1911A1 copy as well. I preferred the walnut double diamond grips to the genuine plastics.

As others have said, the Springer WWII GI is probably closer to what you are looking for to begin with, plus it is affordable.

The only other gun that I can think of that would be even closer to the original (though pricier) is Colt's WWI replica, with Carbonia blue finish and all (gotta love the markings (including "United States Property" on the pistol too):

Finally, there is the actual Colt reproduction of the WWII Colt 1911A1, like this one that sold on Gunbroker.
