Hello, high road, I went to a couple of gun shops today just browsing looking at prices for a few firearms and ammo. Now Im not a rich man, far from it, and I love firearms and shooting sports, but I was looking at maybe another purchase for a main battle rifle, something in 308 ,like the springfield socom 2, I have a few rifles , a pair of handguns and a shotgun, but ammo is getting unreal, I went to one location and a 500 round brick of wolf 7.62x39 for 140 dollars that cant be right then I when to another location and saw a box 20 silver bear for 7.99 a box, man I have not even looked at prices for a 308 ammo, just saving up for the rifle is about 1400 but the ammo is steep man I may have to get a second job to support my habit:eek:

Ammo is only getting worse. Prices go up again next week with the one of the largest distributers. So expect to see a rise soon...again.

On a funny note. I had a guy come in today and want a box of 280. For whatever reason I had one box left...and it was kind of hidding in the case with 2 years ago price on it. It was 12 bucks cheaper than even Wal_Mart. When I priced it, chances are it was 10 or so % higher than Wal-Mart.

I sold it to him at that price. he got the cheapest box of 280 in the country today, haha.

Of course, I spent much of the day, going through the case after that and making sure everything was priced at market levels. :neener:

Ammunition is getting expensive but not that much from the prices you mentioned. 500 rounds of Wolf 7.62x39 for $140 is a rip. You can get 1,000 shipped for ~$200.

You can start reloading. You can custom load that rifle of yours to the bullet weight it likes and go from there. I never seen the sense in anyone shooting off a couple hundred rounds just for the sake of it and I am not saying that you do but you can develop a "pet load".

+1 When I first started here, I would get annoyed at all the reloaders trying to convert me, and then one day at Wal-Mart, as I was standing in the sporting goods aisle by the ammo case looking into my empty wallet, I had a revelation...

hmmm...

...the internet is your friend...google your favorite ammo type+prices...Buy today, it's been widely advertised that all ammo prices are going up today...Get busy, or pay2mucho... rauch06.gif
