Wow, I just received this Uberti 1851 London Navy in the mail. This thing is smooth with a very nice trigger. All steel frame, trigger guard and backstrap. No brass on this one. She's got the looks too, LOL. I definitely like brass with a heat treat along side but figured I'd try something to change things up this time. No regrets on this one.

I ordered a .380 RB mold to go with it and should get out in the garage tomorrow for a good casting session. Then it's off to the wad cutting station for a cut n' lube.

Hopefully Sunday I'll get out to the range for a range session.

Case hardening to kill for.....

Beautiful pistol.

I am very curious to know if the front sight is exactly at the 12 OC position and whether the thing shoots to point of aim. Every darn blackpowder pistol I owned, the front sight was off center. My Uberti 1858 Remington I was able to knock the front sight in its dove tail, and the sight was wonderfully tall, allowing me to file it down. But Colt Replicas, can’t move or file the front sight.

I'm curious of the ball size myself. I was told for the most part that Uberti works best with .380 and Pietta uses a .375 ball. This is my first .36 cal BP revolver so we'll see.

I purchased a Big Lube Tower of Power cylinder loader so that should greatly aid in loading the ball.

Very nice gun ...congrats.
I use a .375 ball in my Uberti's and they fit pretty good, would like to hear how the .380 balls work out for you, should shave a nice ring.
I have been shooting 36 caliber revolvers since the 60s. Started with originals and .380 and have since gone to replicas (mostly Uberti's) and stayed with .380. They work well for me, target and small game.

When I first came up with a Navy I got a dozen or so .375s with it, used those and found some.395s I had cast for my .40 Squirrel Rifle. They are dead soft lead and can be loaded with careful pressure on the leaver, nice ring shaved off, and they shoot well.
I have bought .375s but have a .380 mold coming.

I had one several years ago and traded it off. Yes, I'm stupid. Anyway, it was quite possibly the prettiest firearm I have ever owned. The one you just bought looks better than mine did. sigh

I feel your pain Choctaw, 3 years ago my wife was diagnosed with MS. Needless to say my entire black powder collection went bye bye. Now that things are on the right track i'm going to slowly rebuild the collection.

I had a NIB Ruger Old Army, Uberti 3rd model Dragoon among 7 others that were sold.

God Bless my wife and she's doing well as of today.

Point being, you can always get that 1851 back and put a smile on your face :)

I lovemine! absolutelly the best trigger pull I have ever felt!
Balances perfectlly and is super accurate.
Honestly, some round balls fit lose andaybe one will slide forward and cause troubles.
You can feel it when you get an undersized ball while loading.
My favorite shooter!

Here is an Uberti from the late 50s with good color.

Case color is a hit or miss system at best. Unless you go with true bone casehardening, any chemical bath is weak in comparison.

That is gorgeous. I think I kinda need a .36 in my collection of .44s.
