This is about a AK man who when in a confrintation with police pulled out a toy guy. Police at the time didn't know it was a toy and shot the man but did not kill him. The reason I posted this is in the article it says how the police used a taser against him first and was not affective in stopping him.

After attempting to hit officers with a plastic flute, police tasered Rasphoumy, who was not disabled by the stun gun.
Rasphoumy then pulled out what police now know was a plastic gun, and pointed in the direction of the officers, who then fired seven real shots at him.
None of the bullets hit Rasphoumy, who then locked himself in his van.

I tired of reading that cops miss so much. They need to start shooting under duress or with a massage adrenaline dump to mimic what will happen in a situation like that.

Seven rounds fired and zero hits? Maybe we should think about making our boys in blue go back to revolvers. Or batons.

We really should not be making judgements about the hit rates of officers who use their firearms in the line of duty.

I'll go a step further on that: persons whose firearms experience is limited to range shooting and who have never engaged in high performance defensive pistol or FoF training have no business commenting at all.

My main reason for linking this article was more about the taser and less about the missed shots. Even though that is important, if this man was not on drugs I would have thought that taser would have dropped him where he stood. I was under the impression that tasers have became a lot better then when they were first interduced.

Michigan has changed their laws to allow for carry of a taser and the wife and I have thought about one for in the house but after reading this I am changing my mind. I am not saying a taser to replace a handgun but I have a sistuation that has come up that a taser inside of a cuboard would work for me but a handgun wouldn't.

What an article....and what a crazy encounter for everyone!
You just have to dig Rainbow's sideburns and the pointy little chin fuzz.

And; "After attempting to hit officers with a plastic flute". A plastic flute?
Rainbow my man, what were you thinking?
Then the classic; "Rasphoumy then pulled out what police now know was a plastic gun"...
Again....Rainbow my man, what were you thinking?

To top it all off....Of course it took place in a Walmart parking lot! Where else? :D
.

any one that my have to engage another person in the Line of duty should be exposed to stress shoots. I have Seen some of my soldiers who are great on the qual range crumble on timed barrier shoots and vise versa. more training is always a good thing but who is gonna pay for it

99.9% of police work is done with an ink pen. Shouldn't be too surprising that marksmanship isn't a priority. Also this guy was driving a RAINBOW van!

I have. That is why I made the comment that I did. "You fight like you train," right?

As for the him being shocked and not going down...I don't know. Some variables would be what type of clothing was he wearing, where did they hit him, does he have a chemical or neurological issue that could cause electrical impulses from traveling around his body, how charged was the batteries, any recalls on that gun, what was the rated vs actual output of the gun... I could keep going. A real world situation has so many variables that you could never truly recreate it again.
