7 or 8 years ago when I got interested in 32 caliber revolvers, I wanted a S&W K-frame K-32 or Model 16. Well, they are about as rare as hen's teeth and I actually have never seen one in the "flesh". I did find a Model 16-4 but it is chambered in 32 H&R Mag and even then, I've only seen one other 16-4.

A few weeks ago, I was cruising the internet and ran into a listing for a new Beretta Manurhin MR32 Match revolver chambered in 32SWL. So, I indulged

Apparently, the same parent company owns Beretta and the company that manufactures Manurhin firearms so it sounds like they took advantage of Beretta's present in the United states to import the gun.

My MR32 has a 6" barrel and is based on Manurhin's MR73 357 Magnum revolver. It is DA/SA. There is a SA version available as well as the MR38, 38 Special.

They are priced comparable to a good to excellent S&W K-32.

I've shot one box of 32 Wadcutters through it and it is a dream to shoot.

Very cool! I bet that’s a genuine tack driver on the range.

I always hope to stumble upon a Model 16, but I know that’s one that probably never will happen.

Stay safe.

Yes, the gun came with a test target where all the shots were touchig the holes of the other shots.

Unfortunately, as I age, 70 plus years, I'm less capable at the range. Even so, the the MR32 is fun to shoot.

I've said for a while that 32 SWL could have been the reloaders "22 RF" cartridge. Low cost but accurate.

Unfortunately, the market did noot see it that way and pushed the higher performance ammunition guns that could shoot the lighter load ammunition.

I just got a box of 1000 Missouri 98 grain wadcutters. I have primers, powder and cases on hand so I'm all set to shoot my new Manurhin revolver for a while.

Beretta is the parent company, of several manufacturers. Your revolver has had a good reputation for a long time in Europe, well before Manuhrin's acquisition by Beretta. I too like the .32 S&W Long. Might be an old guy thing. :)

I have a .32 H&R and a .327 FM I reload for, sooner or later a .32 S&W Long will find its way here. (@LoonWulf sent me a bag of .32 S&WL cases a while back that need some attention!)

I bought 500 of the Missouri 98 gr DEWC myself, they shoot very well over a pinch of Bullseye out of my Single Six.

Congratulations again on a fantastic purchase!

Stay safe.

@NIGHTLORD40K was giving away a free .32Long die set not too long ago. Now .32 S&W is back in fashion!

Its always had a small cult following thanks to its low recoil, inherent accuracy, and ease of reloading. I don't see it dying off anytime soon, but I don't see it becoming more mainstream either.
So your saying only very Cool Gun people understand the 32 S&W!

I need to be in this club… but not the $4,000 club!

Sigh.......something new to search for on GB from time to time...... :)

Edit: Ouch!

I'm glad I bought a 4" M-16 years ago before they got crazy high, and I have my Taurus .32 Mag.....so....I don't see a 4K .32 in my future, maybe if I luck into a used one somewhere priced right....maybe.

Fortunately, my S&W Model 16-4 was more economical than a 32SWL K-frame mostly because it was a newer production gun and they made about three times as many as K-32's.

YEP! ouch

.327 Federal Mag … I heard it the same or better in terms of accuracy

You can shoot 32SWL in your 327 Fed Mag and 32 H&R Mag revolvers and enjoy the “koolaide”.

I have a S&W Model 30 and 31, 32 SWL J-frames and they shoot very small groups. Unfortunenatly, they are fixed sight revolvers. So, I was wanting a k-frame sized gun with adjustable sights to get the most from the cartridge.

Yes, $4k is rich but a good K-32 will be near that these days. But, my skeet shotgun with sub gauge tubes is pushing that value and the gun is only a Browning.

Besides, there is something special shooting 32SWL in a gun chambered for 32SWL.

SOLD! 32SWL here I come… but not till next year! Just moved from .38 Special to .38 HBWC now venturing into full house .357!

Note, 32 SWL is not the same as 32 S&W.

Some early S&W revolvers were chambered in 32 S&W. Later, they were chambered in a more powerful cartridge, 32 S&W Long, aka 32 SWL as the design and material improved.

I have a 32 Safety hammerless that is chambered in 32 S&W that belonged to my wife's uncle. No way I would even try to put 32 S&W Long (32SWL) cartridges in the cylinder.

As they say, be careful what you wish for.

Apparently, 32 S&W Long is still a popular target competition ammunition in Europe. Hence, it is still available and guns are still available. 32 S&W Long (aka 32SWL) is just not as popular in the USA.

Anyway, after shooting my S&W Model 30 and 31 j-frame revolvers chambered in 32 SWL, it was obvious that the cartridge had some quite accuracy potential. My search for target style revolver began.

I'll agree that the Manurhin MR32 is a bit rich for some folks blood, but I'm sure the same could be said for some Kriegoff's shotgun guns as well.

Anyway, I see that the range of Manurhin MR73 revolvers from Beretta are becoming more available in the US. I've been interested 8
plus inches revolvers here for a while so I may have I to invest in one.

any current guns cambered in 32SWL? that’s in the under $700 range?
H&R and Taurus may have marked 32 SWL revolvers in the past. But even 32 H&R Mag revolvers are not made much any more.

327 Fed Mag is the 32 caliber choice these days for new revolvers. I have a Ruger Single Seven and an SP101 chambered in 327 Fed Mag. Nice revolvers.

But they will fire 32 SWL ammunition.

32 SWL is a popular target ammunition in Europe. They still market a few semi-auto and revolver arms for the bullseye games.

I like your new gun! I think if I saved up for a year and get better at shooting DA. Might be fun to own a MR32

what brass, bullet, powder, primer, die combo are you using?
