Just got my CZ Ringneck 28 ga. and am having heck seeing those tiny notches for choke ID. They're not marked on the tube wall. Would it hurt them to lightly etch/engrave the tubes so I can see what tube it is before I put it in the barrel. Is there a better way to mark them? I only need it for when they're not in the gun. I wonder if they could be laser engraved? Not sure if it is cost prohibitive but I plan on holding on to this shottie anyways. By the way, awesome looking gun, hope it shoots the same. It points like a dream.

i probally would not engrave them, i think it tmight make them more susceptable to corision...

For close to what lazer marking your tubes will cost, you could pick up a set of well marked ones from Carlson's or Briley.

Awaiting range report. The CZ looks good, but can it shoot?

I mark mine (providing they are silver in color) with a big I/C, M or F with a Sharpie marker it stays on from cleaning to cleaning and doesn't seem to harm anything.

Marking them with a sharpie should work well unless the oil or grease you use covers the marking. I suggest different color marking for different chokes. That way, if it smudges or becomes illegible, you will still know the choke by the color of the marking.

Engraving should work well too and I don't think it would hurt the chokes. Heck, many come from the factory with engraving on the side of them.

I've also seen some choke-tubes anodized different colors, so you can tell at a glance what tube you've got installed (the color code is printed on a sticker that goes on the case), but this is probably more expensive than most people would find practical.
