I have a marlin model 100 rifle from the early 1960s. my great uncle bought it his junior year in high school so it's a family gun and trashing it is not an option (i know it's a cheap rifle)
here's the issue, when I load a .22 in the breech and close the bolt, I pull back the hammer plunger on the back of the bolt to cock it, I pull the trigger and it doesn't go boom. it sounds like the hammer is striking light and there's no indentation of the rim of the cartridge. I think the firing pin is broken, is this a common issue with 100s? is anyone familiar with them?
