I'm looking for a general truck gun for SHTF scenarios, not for a hunting rifle.
Which caliber do you think would be better?
I need to be able to penetrate car bodies and accuracy out to 150 yards.
Stopping power is also a factor. The .44 Has more capacity though.

Or I could buy the .45-70 or .450 Marlin 1895. :)

I vote 45-70. Hornady LeverEvolutinn For your 150yd accuracy. Any number of big thumper rounds for when you want to kill A car.

If you are trying to stop a car, I would look at no lighter than a .45-70, depending upon the car you might just need a .50BMG belt fed, full-auto, those Olds are vicious. :D

I have both calibers in carbines (Winchester 94/Browning 92). The 44 rarely ever gets to go for a ride, there's always a 30-30 carbine in the truck.

My sentiments may be outdated, but I always felt that if I'm going to go to the trouble of carrying a rifle (more cumbersome than a pistol), then by all means I'm going to stoke it with something more powerful than a pistol round.

Besides, I just think a 30-30 is a great all around caliber.

+1 - I went through just this a few years ago thinking about a saddle gun and utility rifle. That was exactly what I decided - the ballistics on the .30-30 really beat pistol rounds in the rifle.

I agree, plus 2.
