I recently picked up an unfired 1894c in .357. It was made in 1980, and has the front dovetail sight instead of the ramp. I am going to pick up a Skinner peep for the rear. Anyone using this sight on the older Marlins? Will I need a taller front sight, or will the stock bead sight work?

thanks!

Mine required a taller front sight with the loads I run through my Marlin.

Talk to Tim (Skinner) and ask him what the feedback has been for rampless Marlins. He's a great guy and makes a fine product.

Shot him an email and asked him. Very nice guy! He said that 60% need a taller front sight. He also said that if I get the rear first, and tell him how much it is off and at what distance (if that is the case with the stock front sight) that he would calculate the correct height and make me one. Can't beat that for $10!!!!
