Peep sight for a Marlin 1894

Skinner makes a barrel-mounted peep, here is a pic from their website. Drift out your rear sight and tap this into the dovetail. A few years back I shot one on an 1894 at 50-75 yards, on a friend's ranch, and it was dead on.

Got the FP-336 and got it mounted today. It overhangs the hammer a good bit, but with the extension it's not really an issue. Even with the sight bottomed out there's plenty of room between the hammer, the extension and the sight.
It's pouring rain here today, but hopefully I can take it out and sight it in next weekend.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and info, and thanks Charlie98 for the sight!

I'm glad it's going to work out for you. Chances are, you will have to come up off the bottom for something like a 100yd zero. If memory serves, my .41 zeroed at 6 or 7 clicks at 100yd, so I wouldn't be surprised if you were digging a little dirt with it bottomed out like that... ;)

V8stang', that's very much what I remember of the peep I had on the '94 Marlin; it still wears the same hammer extension, now to clear a scope. Don't ever recall it interfering with the sight.
When it comes to peep sights, closer is better. Am I the only one the sergeant told "Nose to the charging handle!"? :) Your eye has a natural tendency to center itself at the brightest spot, and your eye actually becomes the rear sight. This is why you need a good cheek weld, to keep from moving your head, instead of the gun, when aiming.
More, since you don't actually have to focus on the aperture, but instead thru' it, you only have to worry about the front sight and the target...,not the rear sight, the front sight, and the target.
Gotta love peep sights; they let codgers shoot straight.

This is the Williams on my Browning 71... I have it jacked out to shoot at 900yds... can't do that with a Skinner.

Now I am intrigued. I have a 336 I inherited and use strictly for target shooting so far. I've also started reloading for it and have about 4 different loads between factory and handloads, from 110 gr FMJ to 170 gr Winchester Power Point. I've been looking for an adjustable peep, as the different loads have vertical and lateral changes as much as 8 inches at 100 yards.

So, another question. Regarding the Williams, for the 1894 they show the FP-336, which mounts using the rear scope mount holes, and hangs over the hammer slightly on the 1894

Will the FP 94/36 fit? It uses the holes in the side of the receiver, and mounts a little further forward.
I'd rather have a side mount if it will fit.
It seems like it would, but it's listed as fitting the 1895 and 336. The 1894 isn't listed for the side mount.
Yes, the 94/36 will work on the 1894.

MVA #130 on my 1893 Marlin. It’s a high quality sight and works very well. I had a Marble on an1873 Winchester and on an 1885 Low Wall that worked just fine. 0B21EA31-740D-4429-8C20-4DC80F789557.jpeg
