Update on this.
Well today I go into Whittaker Gun's and what do I see but this very rifle. I pick it up and hear it tell me to take it home, so I did.
Bad part is that it costs way more than a 357 Marlin cost, this one was $567.99 before anything was added.
It has a heavy barrel (octagon) and basic sights also different in that it is loaded like a 22 lever action thru the mag tube instead of thru a loading gate. The fit and feel of this rifle is good to excellent, short/handy and lively in operation.
It was so hot at the range I coud not keep the sweat out of my eyes or my safety glasses from fogging up so I had to fire a round then remove glasses then fire another and so on. After adjusting sights I shot two groups of 3 at 50 yards into 1 inch groups so not too bad.
I fired Federal 85gr HP rounds and 95gr SWC, no problems, then I tried some of my on reloads. These were the first rounds I had ever reloaded and they worked fine, not quite as powerful sounding as the Federal stuff but close.
My recipe for the 32 H&R magnum was once fired Federal brass, Federal 100 small pistol primers, 3.5 gr of HP 38 powder, Hornady 85gr HP/XTP bullets all put together on a Lee press with Lee dies.
They worked fine in both my revolver and my new Marlin rifle.
